El Condor Special

Captain Douglas - CARSTEN in Germany

Hola Amigos!

It seems that I need somethin’ like a nickname or a pseudonym, which was very common in the early days of Spaghetti Western, before I can start my “El Condor” report .

Everybody in the Web and on the Spaghetti Western Web Board has one. Mmmh.

I wrote several reports for Toy Magazines about different old action figure lines, that’s my chance. Well, here is my hair-raising crazy derivation of my new nickname:

Galoob A-Team Toys ? George Peppard ? Cannon for Cordoba? Spanish Locations ?

Captain Douglas ! Halleluja, that’s it!

Like Garringo and Paco I love to search for and to visit the old Spaghetti Westernlocations in Spain.
Hope you enjoy my little Photo-Report about the legendary “El Condor” Fort.
Built for the Lee van Cleef western “El Condor” the Fort was later used as a very effective location in many other Spaghetti Western.
(Una ragione per vivere e una per morire, Amico stammi lotana almeno un palmo, Blindman,…just to name a few).

Even Conan ? The Barbarian had a drink in la cantina “El Condor”.
Today the great Fort is falling to pieces, mainly used by shepherds and their sheep as a covered place for the night.
Because of massive costs for redevelopment and preservation, there is no investor in sight stopping the process.
So don’t wait too long, if you want to breathe in a bit of the old charm. And it still is a great moment to be there for any Western Fan.

To find the Fort just follow the “Western Leone” signs.

But don’t turn right to the old Leone Set (C’era una volta il west).

If you ride straight ahead you’ll soon see a white gate - EL CONDOR ! Yes, there we are.

The closed gate is not a serious problem for your Colt and you follow the dusty way to the Fort. But don’t try this during holiday season.
Too many “Pinkerton-Guns” from the nearby Western Leone Town are controlling the Territory.

I made my latest ride to El Condor early January this year (2005), which was a good time for a visit. My Sony-Gun did a good job, no problems with local gunslingers.

And now it’s time for a little walk through “El Condor”.
Adios muchachos. Keep up the great work Garringo! Cheers, Captain Douglas / WESTERN-LOCATIONS-SPAIN

There is no rank.

We are all equals,

except for me being a little more equal.
